Feeling Beautiful No Matter What
By: Jackie Clark

It is often difficult to feel beautiful when struggling with a disease, especially one like cancer. Many women, especially those with cancers like mesothelioma, which have a low survival rate (about 40% survive a year), feel too under the weather to feel beautiful. Especially with the side effects of cancer, such as hair and weight loss, it's difficult for many women to maintain self-confidence. But no matter what, any woman can feel beautiful in her own skin, with a few fashion and makeup tips.

Fashion can make anyone feel confident and powerful. It's just a matter of finding clothing that makes you feel good in your own skin. To start off, look for clothes that flatter your shape. For instance, try to accent your good qualities. If you have nice curves, wear something sexy to show them off. If you really like your skin tone, pick a color that makes it glow. By wearing clothing that shows off your assets, you will gain instant confidence!

Every woman deserves to feel beautiful all the time, even if she is facing a terrible disease. Makeup is another way in which women can feel good about themselves despite their sickness. If you wake up feeling disgusting and less confident then usual, reach for your makeup kit. It's always a good idea to splash your face with cool water and wash it with mild soap before applying makeup. Something as simple as cold water can instantly make you feel alive and awake!

Makeup has the power to make a woman feel beautiful and mysterious, especially on days when you aren't feeling your best. Simple tricks can make a world of difference when it comes to self-confidence. For instance, if you are feeling a little dull, add some glam to your look. Sparkling eyeliners and iridescent shadows can make anyone feel like a movie star. If you need a quick pick me up, add some bronzer to your look. Especially during the winter months, bronzer is a girl's best friend. Add some underneath your cheekbones to give yourself a contoured face. Apply it all over for sun-kissed radiance. If all else fails, focus on your eyes! Every woman has beautiful eyes, and it's simply a matter of bringing their colors out. A tinted mascara works well for intensifying color. Choose blue-black mascara for blue eyes, and purple-brown mascara for brown eyes. Use shadow shades that bring out the colors in your eyes, rather than over whelming them.

Fashion and makeup allow women to feel great even during the worst of times. But, a woman should never forget that even without makeup or clothing, she is beautiful no matter what, inside and out.
